The Garwood Borough Office of Emergency Management, led by Coordinator Ken Capobianco, has designated the Borough Hall as a cooling station for residents in need of relief from the heat. The facility also offers electric connections for charging personal devices. Additionally, a heat advisory will be in effect on Wednesday from 11 AM to 8 PM in several areas including Middletown, Danbury, Waterbury, East Haddam, Groton, Montauk, Westhampton, Islip, New York, White Plains, Bridgeport. The National Weather Service in New York City has issued an excessive heat warning and a heat advisory for the mentioned regions. Residents are encouraged to check on individuals with special needs during this time.
