The Borough of Garwood has announced that it has contracted with the Plainfield Area Regional Sewerage Authority (PARSA) to conduct sanitary sewer main cleaning as part of a preventative maintenance initiative and to comply with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) requirements.

Cleaning of the sewer mains is scheduled to start on October 28, 2024, in the south side of the Borough, specifically in areas located south of the NJ Transit Railway, as outlined in an accompanying map.

Residents are advised to keep their toilet seats down and run water in all sinks daily. This will help ensure that the traps are full, which prevents sewer gases from entering their home plumbing systems. The maintenance work is expected to be completed by November 22, 2024.
